Discovery Virtual School serves student in grades Kindergarten through 12th Grade.

All students in the State of Washington are eligible to apply to Discovery Virtual School. A Choice Transfer Request must be submitted as part of the enrollment process. If this is your first time requesting a Choice Transfer, our enrollment specialists can help!

Discovery Virtual School’s elementary program gives K–5 students a flexible online curriculum they can work through at their own pace. Students complete lessons through an easy-to-use platform, check in with certified teachers, and get support whenever they need it. Families can start anytime and move through the material in a way that fits their schedule.

Most families spend two to four hours a day on schoolwork, depending on the grade level. Lessons include videos, reading, hands-on activities, and short assessments. Students can take breaks whenever they need them, and parents can decide when learning happens each day.

Yes. Discovery Virtual School is fully accredited, which means your child’s coursework meets academic standards and transfers smoothly if they return to a traditional school later.

The elementary curriculum covers math, language arts, science, and social studies with age-appropriate lessons designed to keep students engaged. Instruction mixes multimedia activities, short videos, and independent practice so young learners stay interested and build strong foundational skills.

Parents guide their child’s daily routine and help them stay on track, especially in the early grades. Discovery Virtual School’s teachers handle grading and support, so parents don’t have to be experts. As students grow, they become more independent

Discovery Virtual School teachers are highly qualified and Washington state certified. Most have been teaching online for years, and they understand the proactive role required for success in online education.

Students are provided with a Success Coach that works directly with them and their learning coaches to build out their student learning plans. Teachers also work closely with students and offer office hours for additional support.

Yes. Students have access to certified teachers who answer questions, provide feedback, and step in when extra help is needed. Families can message teachers anytime and schedule support whenever they need it.

They can within each semester. Discovery Virtual School follows a traditional school-year calendar with set start dates and breaks. During each semester, students are free to work at their own pace as long as they finish their assignments by the semester’s end. This gives them flexibility day-to-day while still keeping everyone on track with the school schedule.

Lessons use interactive activities, short videos, built-in practice, and offline activities such as workbooks to keep students focused. The curriculum breaks learning into small steps so students stay motivated without feeling overwhelmed.

Families only need a computer or tablet, a reliable internet connection, and basic headphones. The online learning platform works on most modern devices, and setup takes just a few minutes.

Enrollment is simple. Families complete an interest form and work with our enrollment specialist to submit the application and Choice Transfer, as required by the state of Washington. Once the approval is received, students can begin right away.
